‘The Witcher’ July 2021 Netflix News Roundup Ahead of WitcherCon

It has been three months since Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and therefore the remainder of the cast of The Witcher wrapped filming on the series’ second season. Netflix releases a Geralt teaser featuring Henry Cavill and fresh footage

Fortunately, Ciri’s brief teaser was just the primary to be released by Netflix and was quickly followed by a Geralt teaser featuring Henry Cavill. Just like the Ciri teaser, this one is extremely brief but packs tons of interesting details in it which we’ve covered in our frame-by-frame analysis.

Now, we’ve seen a Geralt teaser and a Ciri teaser, which begs the question… Where is that Yennefer teaser? Fans of the show have been asking that question within the past fortnight , but Netflix has yet to reveal a teaser featuring Anya Chalotra. It’s possible that this one is going to be saved for WitcherCon, although we hope the Con will include a more complete teaser or trailer also .

WitcherCon schedule promises “epic reveals and season two surprises”

On July 9, Netflix will partner with the award-winning game developer CD Projekt RED (who were behind the trilogy of Witcher video games) within the first WitcherCon. This event will feature numerous panels, surprises, and “epic reveals” and can include interviews and panels featuring the show’s cast, showrunner, and key game developers. Here are the highlights from the complete schedule for WitcherCon.

The Witcher Season 2: Deck of Destiny with panelists

Panelists: Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), Paul Bullion (Lambert), Mimi M. Khayisa (Fringilla) and Lauren Hissrich (showrunner)

A new breakdown of the characters and a composer reveal for the prequel series, Blood Origin

Besides the most series, Netflix is additionally producing two spinoffs set within the Witcher universe. The primary may be a live action prequel set 1200 years before Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri first meet. Captain Eredin Bréacc Glas: Fans of the Witcher games will remember Eredin because the king of the Wild Hunt, a spectral group of riders that sometimes appears within the sky, 

heralding war consistent with common superstition. Actually , he’s a member of an elven race from another world, referred to as the Aen Elle. His role and involvement in ‘Blood Origin’ remain unknown, but we’ll likely see a really different Eredin from the one we’ve met within the books and games seeing as this is often set 1200 years earlier. In other Blood Origin news, it has been recently revealed that Black Sails, Outlander and BattleStar: Galactica composer Bear McCreary are going to be behind the prequel’s score.

The Witcher prequel ‘Nightmare of the Wolf’ gets a director and other new details

The Witcher’s second spinoff is an animated film titled Nightmare of the Wolf, which can specialise in Geralt’s old mentor. As reported by Variety, the series will follow Vesemir, “a headstrong young witcher who relishes his job and therefore the earthly benefits he reaps in doing what others can’t or won’t. Kwang Il Has is joining the animators of Studio Mir, and therefore the script was written by Witcher writer Beau DeMayo with Lauren Hissrich returning as showrunner consistent with Variety.

“There are things I wanted to understand about, what it takes to become a witcher, how Geralt became a witcher, where his journey started and who was important to him,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich told Variety.
