The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that an earthquake measuring 6.9 occurred on Sunday off the southeast coast of Taiwan. Tsunami warnings have been released by Japan as a result of a strong earthquake. Ultrasound decreases earthquakes from the initial power of 7.2 to 6.9 in size.
In a video shared by NDTV Journalist Umashankar Singh on Twitter, the impact of the earthquake can be seen when the shock shakes the train standing at a station.
His tweet in Hindi, when translated into English, is read as “See how the train stands at the station starting to vibrate when the earthquake?”.
According to Reuters report, the earthquake struck at 14:44 at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) of North Taitung.
Yuli Village experienced at least one collapse of the building, according to the Central News Agency (CNA).
There have been many vibrations since the same area was beaten by an earthquake on Saturday with a size of 6.6.
But Sunday earthquakes are much stronger.
The Japanese Meteorology Agency issued a tsunami advisor to remote islands near Taiwan.
Waves as high as one meter are expected to arrive around 4 pm (0700 GMT), he added.
TV records directly from the islands affected do not immediately indicate clear signs of high waves.
The Chinese Earthquake Network Center said the vibrations were clearly felt in coastal areas including Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanghai.
Taiwan regularly hit by an earthquake because the island is located near the intersection of two tectonic plates.
The island is in the Pacific “Ring Fire”, an intense seismic activity arc that stretches through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific Basin.
The most deadly Taiwan earthquake was an earthquake measuring 7.6 in September 1999 that killed more than 2,400 people.
